Nafeesa’s five top tips on essential kit for exercising

 
 
 

1. A comfortable sports bra

Wearing a normal sports bra for exercising is not supportive at all and not comfortable so a good sports bra is the biggest essential that will set you up for a good workout.


2. Breathable clothing

It’s important that your clothes are breathable and something that you feel comfortable in. Personally, I love an oversized t-shirt and some leggings as it helps me not to overheat and doesn’t stick which can make you feel sweaty.


3. Supportive trainers

If you don’t have comfortable shoes, your feet will hate you! Try to find trainers with good sole and ankle support to reduce the likelihood of injury. If you’re unsure, you can go to a shoe shop and ask for some advice or go online and see what is recommended for your sport/exercise.


4. Weather appropriate options

If you’re exercising outside, it’s important to dress for the weather. So I like wearing lighter clothing in the hotter months and thicker items in the winter. It’s also important to make sure you have waterproof items to wear whilst it’s raining to make sure you don’t get cold from the rain. Personally, this is really important for me as I sometimes find the gym intense so being outdoors is a nice change of pace and a good opportunity to get some fresh air.


5. Wear what’s right for you

Exercising can be fun and wearing clothes that genuinely make you feel good will really help you. So don’t worry about what other people are wearing and make sure you’re wearing what’s right for you!
