At Big Sister, we believe that physical activity is for everyone and we want to help you to discover an activity that’s right for you!

Whether that’s running, netball, karate, dancing or even just walking, there’s heaps for you to try. We can help you on your journey to getting active. Below are a few websites that offer advice and resources to find the best way for you to get moving.

  • Places Leisure locker app

    This app offers access to hundreds of virtual workouts direct to your phone! So you can be active wherever you happen to be.

  • Active 10

    Did you know walking briskly, even for 1 minute, counts as exercise? The Active 10 app records every minute of walking you do (anonymously). Just pop your phone in your pocket and away you go!

  • Beat the Street

    Beat the Street turns towns into giant games. Earn points, win prizes and discover more about your area by walking, running and cycling. Pick up a Beat the Street card and swipe Beat Boxes across your community.

  • British Cycling: Let's Ride Local

    Taking the family out on a bike ride is a great way to get some fresh air, exercise and a dose of feel good! Let's Ride Local provides ideas and inspiration to help keep everyone motivated and safe whilst cycling in your local area.

  • Better Health

    Better Health leisure centres offer a Junior membership for young people aged 11-15 to enjoy access to every swimming pool, junior gym and junior fitness classes in their local area.

  • Couch to 5k

    Couch to 5K is for everyone. Whether you've never run before or you just want to get more active, Couch to 5K is a free and easy way of getting fitter and healthier.

  • Couch to Fitness

    Want to feel fitter from the comfort of your own home? This free and flexible at-home online exercise plan for beginners involves 3 video sessions a week, with rest days in between so you can take it at your own pace.

  • Les Mills: Born To Move

    Designed for children and teenagers, BORN TO MOVE School Years is all about empowerment and inclusion. You will learn foundation movement skills, improve fitness and build your confidence and self-expression.

  • Junior ParkRun

    parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world. Saturday morning events are 5k and take place in parks and open spaces. On Sunday mornings, there are 2k junior parkruns for children aged four to 14. Find your nearest parkrun to join in.

  • OurParks classes

    Access free online workouts to do at home, or find your nearest park that offers free OurParks weekly sessions with qualified instructors.

  • Street Tag

    On the Street Tag app, you collect points assigned to virtual tags all-around your community including green spaces, once you are within a 40-meter radius of any virtual tag. Can you collect them all?

  • The Body Coach

    You’ve all heard of Joe Wicks and his PE lessons - why not try one of his many FREE workouts over on his YouTube channel? Pick a length and an activity type, and off you go!

  • This Girl Can activity finder

    There’s no ‘right’ way to get active - there’s so many different activities you can try. Have a look and see what you fancy!

  • Tough Mudder Kids

    Lidl Mudder is a 1-mile course packed full of obstacles to give kids aged 5-12 the chance to work as a team and get a Lidl muddy. It’s THE mud and obstacle run for kids.

  • Yoga with Adriene

    If you fancy trying yoga, Adriene’s YouTube videos are a great place to start, with special flows designed especially for young people’s bodies.

  • Zombie Run Game

    Want to make running fun? Download the app and find out your mission - if you’re chased by zombies, you have to speed up! With over 200 missions, you’ll never run out of motivation.
